ADMAF’s awards are a central pillar of its education programmes – as the voices of tomorrow are strengthened, the very best are also recognised for their excellence.
Launched in 2013, the award supports the growth of the UAE visual arts scene by awarding emerging Emirati artists for outstanding work.
Established in 1996, the ADMAF Creativity Award celebrates outstanding Emirati talent in the visual and performing arts, literature and film.
Presented in partnership with New York University Abu Dhabi, the award gives UAE undergraduates and recent graduates the chance to create a work of art that, in the spirit of Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s work, can be publicly exhibited and enjoyed.
Established in 2014, the award recognises the outstanding innovation and achievement of young Emiratis in the field of design and architecture. The competitive award nurtures potential and encourages creative practice by providing resources and support for emerging designers and architects across the UAE.
The 2020 winner, Haweia – an Arabic term meaning “identity” – will be a sculptural installation serving as a lens through which visitors can contemplate their inner selves and discover different configurations of their Haweia as they move around and inside the piece. Haweia will officially be unveiled at NYUAD in November 2020, prior to the installation being taken on tour to Abu Dhabi Art and Umm Al Emarat Park.
The Christo and Jeanne-Claude Award winning work has been revealed, ‘Sila’ meaning ‘connect’, by young artists from the American University of Sharjah, Falwah Alhouti, Ibrahim Abdellatif and Omer Al Raee, taking inspiration from the UAE’s cultural heritage and folklore – important elements of our nation’s identity – and embodies artistic creativity contributing to unity and community solidarity through the arts.
The enchanting winning artwork from “The Christo and Jeanne-Claude Award 2018” finally unveiled at the NYU Abu Dhabi. The Christo and Jeanne-Claude Award, under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Shamsa Bint Hamdan Al Nahyan, is an art award presented by NYU Abu Dhabi in partnership with #ADMAF. Open to UAE-based students, and graduates within the last five years, the Award was established to encourage the creation of new artwork in the UAE, to act as a launching pad for visual artists across the Emirates and to offer the winner an insight into professional life as an artist from commission to exhibition.
