Amna Al Maamari
Biography Born and currently living in Abu Dhabi, Amna Al Maamari is a practicing artist who graduated with an MFA in Sculpture from the Rhode Island School of Design, as well as a BA in Visual Arts from the College of Creative Enterprises, Zayed University. She also became a fellow in the Salama bint Hamdan Emerging Artist Fellowship, otherwise known as SEAF.
Her studio practice is shaped with labour intensive processes that are perplexing yet subtle, investigating the true meaning of the transpersonal. She is intrigued and moved by the experiential side of being a human, asking herself: “How can I operate from a deeper level while being true to the complexities of the collective?” The urge to answer this question has shaped her research interests, which include consciousness research, neuro-linguistic programming, cognitive science and kinesthetic awareness.
