Abu Dhabi Festival signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hong Kong Ballet (HKB) to bring exceptional artistry to audiences from Hong Kong to Abu Dhabi and beyond.
In October 2025, H.E. Huda Alkhamis-Kanoo, Founder of Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation (ADMAF) and Founder and Artistic Director of Abu Dhabi Festival, signed the MoU with Heidi Lee, HKB’s Executive Director, and Septime Webre, HKB’s Artistic Director, marking a new chapter in the more than forty-year relationship between the UAE and Hong Kong. The move established the first cultural partnership of its kind between the Arab world and Hong Kong’s leading ballet company.
This partnership will strengthen the cultural ties and bonds of friendship between the two nations, while exploring opportunities that foster mutual understanding and transcend boundaries to connect people. It also aligns with the UAE’s vision to position Abu Dhabi as a global beacon for creativity and cultural diplomacy, while reinforcing Hong Kong’s role as a gateway between East and West in the performing arts.
“Abu Dhabi Festival is founded upon the fundamental principle that the arts is a universal language which transcends borders and unites humanity. By investing in world-class cultural and creative excellence, together we inspire and educate generations for the betterment of all.”
— H.E. Huda Alkhamis-Kanoo, Founder & Artistic Director, Abu Dhabi Festival
“This collaboration not only amplifies the reach of HKB’s inspiring performances but also underscores the transformative power of the arts to unite communities across the globe.”
— Heidi Lee, HKB Executive Director
“Abu Dhabi Festival has been tremendously supportive of HKB and will spotlight its dynamic performances. This partnership bridges cultures and connects audiences through the universal language of dance.”
— Septime Webre, HKB Artistic Director
