Amna Al Fard
Biography Amna Al Fard is a self-taught artist from Um A Quwain whose fascination with paper is endless. She holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, majoring in Banking and Finance. As a member of the American Quilling Guild and The Quilling Guild of the United Kingdom, she is the regional representative in those two bodies. In 2010, she won three prizes in three different categories at The Quilling Guilds Annual Competition in the UK and an additional award in an American competition. That same year she also traveled to Japan to attend the Annual Meeting of the Japan Quilling Guild. In 2011 she earned two more prizes in a US competition. She is currently establishing the first paper quilling guild in the UAE.
Artist Statement “Everything is possible in a world made out of paper. I am able to create a world that I read about in children’s books, make it real with thin paper strips. I can be a fashion designer, a hair stylist, and even a pâtissier. And through my paper quilled creations, I display my own thoughts, and most importantly maintain self-confidence.”
