Calligraphy Fusion: A cross-cultural calligraphy performance

This special event brings together master calligraphers Mohamed Mandi from the United Arab Emirates and Juichi Yoshikawa from Japan in a captivating live performance. In front of guests at the entrance of the UAE Pavilion – Expo Osaka, the two artists will collaborate on a one-of-a-kind, large-scale artwork that blends Arabic and Japanese calligraphy into a single monumental piece. Uniting two strikingly disparate and deeply rooted art forms, the performance draws on the rich traditions of Arabic and Japanese calligraphy through the lens of literature and poetry. Over the course of an hour, the artists will engage in a dialogue of gesture and ink, a conversation without borders speaking to one another in real time.
