Emirati designer Maitha Alansaari has been named winner of the second edition of the ADMAF × Dolce&Gabbana Design Award. Launched by the Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation (ADMAF) in partnership with Dolce&Gabbana, the award supports emerging Emirati designers and introduces their work to an international audience. Her winning design, A Journey Woven in Fragments, reinterprets the abaya as a luxurious cape. Layered patchwork motifs draw on Emirati and Italian influences, while digital printing and hand-applied embroidery give the piece a sense of lightness and texture. The design was unveiled on 13 October alongside the creations of runners-up Fakhra Almansoori, with Lace Mirage, and Mohamed Alowais, with Ethereal Being. All three pieces were produced by Dolce&Gabbana and will be displayed for six months at the brand’s boutique in The Galleria, Al Maryah Island, Abu Dhabi. As part of her prize, Alansaari will undertake a six-month internship at Dolce&Gabbana’s Milan ateliers, beginning in January 2027.
